A Mother-Daughter Discipleship Curriculum
CG is a small-group curriculum built to develop mom-led discipleship, since mom is the primary female model for her daughter.
Girls today are growing up in a world that is louder, faster, and more confusing than ever. With the family structure changing, church hurts, biblical illiteracy, and a hurried, disconnected culture, Courageous Girls (CG) is offering a creative model to heal and equip generations of girls in and outside the church walls.
Coming alongside the church and busy families, CG disciples both moms and daughters together — helping families build healthy attachment, biblical truth, grace-filled community, healthy habits, and a lasting faith into the everyday rhythms of life. CG is shifting generational patterns one mom-daughter relationship at a time.
WHAT IS COURAGEOUS GIRLS?
With 9 years of free digital or keepsake-book curriculum, each year includes 8 lessons, a retreat, and fun, age-appropriate activities.
Written by co-founder and seasoned ministry leader, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Executive Coach, Terra Mattson, CG integrates grace-filled biblical truth with neuroscience, trauma-informed mental health, leadership, and child development in bite-size increments addressing every issue facing girls today.
From body image, friendships, bullying, and social media, to sexuality, dating, conflict management, and identity confusion — nothing is left off the table.

WHY CHURCHES ARE USING COURAGEOUS GIRLS
How to Get Started With a Courageous Girls Group
1. Start a Group
Churches find a volunteer to lead a Courageous: Daughters Rooted in Grace book study for girl moms. Then moms use the CG curriculum, starting with the year that matches their daughter’s age — spanning 2nd grade through high school.
2. Share the Leadership
Each group has a CG leader and co-leader to keep the group organized and to delegate the lessons each year. It's a shared-facilitation model, so all moms practice leading and their daughters see a wide variety of what it means to be female.
3. Gather 4–8 Moms
Each group has 4–8 mother-daughter pairs either invited by the CG leaders or connected by church staff.
4. Meet Monthly
Each month, moms and daughters meet together in their homes — building connection, biblical truth, and real community - all rooted in grace. Each year has 8 lessons, 1 retreat, and build in developmentally appropriate activities.
5. Stay Connected & Equipped
Courageous Girls resources the moms on a regular basis through their podcast, CG app, and once a month newsletters so that individual churches will be strengthened.
I’m always on the lookout for trusted content for small groups to create opportunities for deeper spiritual growth and authentic community. I came across Terra on the Trueface podcast and didn’t even realize something like Courageous Girls existed. Not only was I surprised to find this resource is for both moms and daughters, it isn’t shaming, rigid, or emotionally unhealthy. After I read her book, Courageous: Being Daughters Rooted in Grace, I immediately realized Courageous Girls would be amazing for our church on so many levels. Expecting only a handful of moms to start, we had 57 moms immediately sign up and we are launching 10 CG groups! Moms are amazed at how healing this has been for them, and they are relieved to have this roadmap to lead their daughters in today’s world. Moms truly want to have a healthy, honest, Christ-centered relationship with their daughter, but often don’t know how. Courageous Girls gives moms the ‘how.’
